Maoists urge Orissa CM Naveen Pattnaik to beg apology for Narayanpatna incident

Report by Deba Prasad Dash; Malkangiri: All the BJD leaders including party MLA,MPs of Malkangiri and Koraput districts in Orissa will be awarded death sentence if the police atrocity does not comes to end in Narayanpatna of Koraput district,said Communist Party of India(Maoist) Malkangiri Divisional Committee Secretary Ramal.In a letter that reached this Malkangiri based reporter yesterday, the Maoist leader has urged Naveen Pattnaik to beg apology for the Narayanpatna police firing on Nov 20 and unconditional release of all the forcibly arrested innocent tribals.

The letter signed by C.P.I(Maoist) Malkangiri Divisional Committee Secretary Ramal has demanded punishment for the police personnel’s involved in the Nov 20 police firing. The state government has proved it’s fascist nature by opening fire on the tribal people who were organizing a peaceful rally to lodge their protest,the letter alleged adding the police is making a false publicity of attacking the Narayanpatna police station by the tribals to snatch away the arms from the cops. Describing the police firing as inhuman,the Maoist leader has alleged that the firing was resulted in killing of three persons ,while more than 30 tribals were injured.

Describing the tribal uprising in Narayanpatna as the outcome of the increasing police atrocity, arrest and false encounter in the region, the Maoist outfit has stated that the tribals of the region were assembled peacefully in the Narayanpatna just to lodge their protest with the state government. But the shameless police has committed the Narayanpatna incident, the Maoist leader lamented.

The outfit has stated that the struggle for land rights was a movement spearheaded by tribals protesting against decades-long exploitation meted out by non-tribals and landlords. The letter informed that the tribals of the Narayanpatna region have been united over the struggle for their land rights movement. To meet their demand for the settlement of the land disputes is a serious problem in the region, the tribals were actively participated on Nov 20 protest movement in Narayanpatna under the banner of Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha(CMAS).The locality has become a liquor free zone due to the CMAS movement, the leader said adding all these pro-people activities of CMAS has become a headache for the Naveen Pattnaik government.It is because of this, the government is trying to suppress the movement by using force,he said.

Branding Naveen as a broker for the landlords,the party has alleged that the government is trying to stop the movement by killing and terrorizing the innocent tribals and this led Narayanpatna tribal uprising. While urging the intelligentsia,doctors,lawyers,teachers to extend their support to the CMAS movement in the Narayanpatna,the Maoist leader has urged the immediate withdrawal of security personnel’s from the region. Situation in Orissa is some what like Lalgarh and Nandigram and the reasons are to be find out,he said.Naveen Pattnaik government is working as an agent of capitalists and is meant for providing service to POSCO,TATA,MITTAL,ESSAR like corporate houses, it alleged. poor is becoming poorer and starvation deaths or death like circumstances has been arised in the state,the letter said.
