British Kashmiris will observe Indian Independence day as Black Day

kashmir5885LONDON, Aug 5 (APP)- The British Kashmiris will observe August 15 India’s Independence Day as a Black day by staging rally outside the Indian diplomatic mission.The call made by All Parties International Kashmir Coordination Committee has been endorsed by the Advisory Council of Kashmir Centre London which has appealed to all British Kashmiris to make it successful and participate in greater numbers.

“This symbolic protest is being staged for continued denial of rights and fundamental freedoms to the people of Jammu and Kashmir living under Indian occupation,” a statement said.

Prof. Nazir Ahmed Shawl, Director, Kashmir Centre, said on this day the continued detention of Kashmiri leaders will also be highlighted and memorandum on behalf of British Kashmiris handed over to Indian High commission in Central London.

He also expressed great concern on the deteriorating health of prominent Kashmir leaders Sayed Ali Geelani and Shabbir Ahmed Shah under house arrest in Srinagar. AP
